Main Purpose:
This role will focus on the origination, structuring, execution & monitoring of prepayment transactions to suppliers of traded commodities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

  • Around 2 years or equivalent preferably within a Trading Company / Financial institution having gained a basic understanding of the principals surrounding Trade Finance instruments and their pitfalls.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel)
  • Accurate & precise
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Highly motivated, able to ensure tight deadlines
  • Team Player

Key Relationships and Department Overview:


  • Handling & providing assistance on all aspects of structured commodity finance including origination, structuring, syndication, documentation and risk participation:
i


Origination:
Performing a proactive business development by assisting Commercial Team in business negotiations, by providing analysis on clients on a timely basis and structure financial proposals;
ii


Structuring:
Install value in transactions that address customer needs and differentiates Trafigura from competitors while minimizing risk exposure;
iii


Risk layoff:
Distribute risk within the banking and insurance markets in applicable deals;
iv


Deal analysis & recommendation:
Analyze deals, identifying & best mitigating all risks relating to counterpart: credit, operational, political & legal; in order to provide recommendation to management;
v


Execution:
Including complete DD, legal documentation, tax implications, appraisals, among others.

  • Monitor risk exposures and recoveries across the Latin American portfolio:
i. Monitor the overall counterparty risk (performance, payment) position of Trafigura;
ii. Ensure timely recover of loans disbursed and proactively manage non-current credits;
iii. Generate periodic reports on exposure for senior management;

  • Negotiate with external counterparties (clients, banks, funds, insurance market)
  • Assist in estimating the working capital requirements of Trafigura and its divisions in this region, and ensure adequate financing structures and/or facilities are in place to meet these requirements.
